Take Control: Managing Your Security Info at aka.ms/mysecurity

Updated October 15, 2026.

aka.ms/mysecurity is a Microsoft short link to the Security info page at mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info. That page is for work or school accounts - the ones your employer or school gives you for Microsoft 365, Teams or Outlook at work. From there you can see and change the methods you use to prove who you are when you sign in or reset your password.

What you can do on the Security info page

Which methods appear depends on the policies your organization has set, so two people at different companies can see different options. If an option is missing, your organization probably does not allow that method.

When replacing a method, add the new one first and then remove the old one. Microsoft's work or school guidance also warns against changing all of your security info at the same time.

Keep at least two methods current

Add more than one method so you are not locked out if one fails - for example the Authenticator app plus a phone number. When you get a new phone, add it here before you reset or give away the old one. If you are setting up the app for the first time, our aka.ms/mfasetup guide covers the steps.

If something looks wrong

If you see a method you did not add, or sign-in activity you don't recognise, change your password and tell your IT department straight away - they can review the account and remove unknown methods. If you cannot sign in at all, try self-service password reset at aka.ms/sspr if your organization has enabled it.

Personal Microsoft accounts are different

If you use an Outlook.com, Hotmail, Xbox or Skype account that you created yourself, aka.ms/mysecurity is not the right page. Personal accounts manage their security info and recovery code at account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional, and use aka.ms/accountrecovery when they cannot sign in.
